Love it or hate it – social media is here to stay. Understanding how best to utilise social media to work for you, is one of the first steps to learn.

For many cancer support group users or organisers, being able to advertise meetings and events via Facebook or Twitter is cheap and easy. It means large numbers of people can be contacted far quicker than by sending around emails or texts.

But if you haven’t used it before, it can be daunting. You also have to be aware of who can see your message unless you restrict your privacy settings to a close circle of friends.

To help simplify social media for new users and give more confidence to those who have been using social media for some time, Macmillan and the Yorkshire Cancer Patient Forum, are holding a free training course.

The session will be on Friday 7 September from 2 – 4pm at Novotel, 4 Whitehall Quays, Leeds LS1 4HR. This is a 10 minute walk from Leeds Railway Station.

The course is open to all and if you would like to attend, please book your place via Macmillan. Email northlearning@macmillan.org.uk or call Susan Oxburgh on 01904 756459
