Information on Brain Tumours

A brain tumour is a growth of cells in the brain that multiplies in an abnormal, uncontrolled way.

Brain tumours can be malignant (cancerous) or benign (non-cancerous).  Cancerous brain tumours are either primary (originate in the brain) or secondary (other cancers that have spread to the brain).  There are over 100 different types of brain tumour.  Symptoms include headaches, seizures (fits), nausea, drowsiness, mental or behavioural changes, weakness or paralysis on one side of the body, and vision or speech problems.
