We were asked by St James University Hospital’s Radiotherapy Department in Leeds to help them survey patients about the use of a bell to mark the end of any radiotherapy treatment.
The bell ringing tradition started in the US, but has become very popular in recent years in the UK.
The team at St James plan to use artwork to make the wall behind the end of the treatment bell, brighter and more interesting and want to incorporate patient thoughts and feelings into the design. Gathering patient feedback has become more difficult with the advent of GDPR regulations and they asked for our help.
The Yorkshire Cancer Community are also interested to find out more, particularly as we are aware there are mixed feelings about the use of a bell to mark the end of treatment.
